Fusion Research Technologies
was initially started in September 2006 to pursue small business grants
for innovative research and development from the Department of Energy.
Our goal was to procure non-traditional funding to develop a diagnostic
system for measuring how fusion plasmas (fuel) interact with the
surrounding chamber walls in fusion experiments and eventually in
demonstration reactors. We were successfully awarded a Small Business
Technology Transfer grant and the R and D is underway.
We
have since expanded our interests to include, more generally, high-tech
research and development, computer adied design (CAD) and engineering
analysis services, and high-tech product development. Fusion Research
Technologies seeks to utilize and apply technologies and capabilites
developed for nuclear fusion in more mainstream research and industrial
applications.
In
parallel, we have several solar (photovoltaic) products and services
under development that will likely seed separate start-ups of their own.
Fusion
Research Technologies is co-owned and operated by Soren Harrison and
Benjamin Longmier. Soren Harrison is a doctoral candidate in
Engineering Physics at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and is
finishing his dissertation research at the MIT Plasma Science and
Fusion Center in Cambridge, MA. Ben Longmier recently completed his
Ph.D at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and is now working as a
Post-Doc with NASA in Houston, TX.
